The UK's smallest town has been asked to test drive an electric car.
Fordwich will become Fordswitch as all of the leafy Kent town's 380 residents have been given Ford's new electric Mustang Mach-E to test drive over three days this weekend.
Philip Lewis, the Mayor of Fordwich, has worked with the car company to create the social experiment in a bid to ease concern about switching to green vehicles.
It comes after research found that just 55 per cent of those living in small towns, villages felt they could make an informed decision about buying an electric vehicle compared with 85 per cent of those who reside in cities, urban areas and large towns.
Lewis said: "What a fantastic way to get people to try out an electric vehicle. We are so proud of our town and preservation is something that is incredibly important to us so we were keen to see how simple it would be to switch over to a more environmentally friendly vehicle. It’s great to see so many people signed up over the next few days and we are thrilled to have a local charging point installed for long-term public use."
