Eating sweet treats can boost creativity.
Scientists have discovered that nibbling at something sweet can improve creativity and the link is thought to come from the way humans associate the taste with positive situations - allowing the mind to become more open.
The effect of the sweet taste is only specific to creativity and did not improve people's performance on an analytical level.
Lead researcher Dr. Lidan Xu - from the University of North Texas - said: "When people perceive the nature of a situation is positive, no threat, they are willing to adopt an explorative mindset which broadens their attention to encompass novel ideas."
Dr. Xu continued: "Sweet taste can independently influence creativity because of the associations that people have developed with the sweet taste experience, above and beyond what sweet taste does to our mood.
"Sweet food is often consumed in a positive environment, such as when you are seeking comfort, during celebrations, or family/friends gatherings."
