Donald Trump will have to wait to return to Twitter

The former US President was banned from the social media platform after the Capitol riots last year but Musk has revealed that he disagreed with the decision and is planning to review the ban.

Despite this, the world's richest man says it will take several weeks to bring back previously banned users.

Musk, who secured a $44 billion deal to buy Twitter last week, said: "Twitter will not allow anyone who was de-platformed for violating Twitter rules back on platform until we have a clear process for doing so, which will take at least a few more weeks."

The midterm elections will take place on Tuesday (08.11.22) and a proportion of seats in the House of Representatives and the Senate will be contested.

There are concerns that Trump, and candidates endorsed by the former president, are willing to dispute polls at the upcoming vote.

The politician and his supporters have continued to claim that he was a victim of election fraud after losing the 2020 presidential vote.

A post from Trump on his Truth Social website - linked to a story claiming voter fraud in Pennsylvania - read: "Here we go again. Rigged election!"

The ex-president has yet to confirm if he will return to Twitter following Musk's takeover but applauded the tech billionaire's acquisition of the site.

He wrote on Truth Social: "I am very happy that Twitter is now in sane hands, and will no longer be run by Radical Left Lunatics and Maniacs that truly hate our country."
