Donald Trump has been condemned after calling for the "termination" of the US constitution.
The former US President made the incendiary comments in a post to his Truth Social account on Saturday (03.12.22) while repeating false claims that he won the 2020 presidential election.
Trump also took aim at "Big Tech companies" and accused them of colluding against him with Democrats.
In the post, the controversial politician referred to allegations of "massive and widespread fraud and deception" and asked if he should immediately be returned to the White House.
He said: "A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great 'Founders' did not want, and would not condone, False and Fraudulent Elections!"
White House spokesman Andrew Bates said that Trump's remarks were "anathema to the soul of our nation".
In a statement, he said: "You cannot only love America when you win."
Bates added that Trump's comments should be "universally condemned" as he took aim at senior Republicans who have not criticised the former president's outburst.
Democrat representative Eric Swalwell questioned how members of the Republican party could still refer to themselves as "Constitutional conservatives" if they didn't condemn the comments.
Trump announced a third bid for the White House last month but has recently come under fire for dining with rapper Kanye West as well as white nationalist and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes.
