A British doctor is trying to claim ownership of Mars by firing lasers at the planet.

Dr. Phil Davies claims that he is battling against the "erosion" of space laws by spending his evenings pointing a high-powered laser into the sky from his garden. He claims that the current laws of space allow anyone to stake a claim for part of a planet and suggests that he is entitled to some of Mars.
He told LADbible: "This the only legitimate method to successfully claim land on Mars.
"Space law is being eroded and it shouldn't be. I'm not a tree hugger, I want countries to mine space but do it responsibly.
"The most exciting point for the public is the fact that I now have a technically correct claim to Mars that is filed with the UN."
