113 million-year-old dinosaur footprints have been discovered in Texas

The tracks belong to an Acrocanthosaurus - an early cousin of the T-Rex - and have been exposed after a severed drought dried up a river in the US state.

The tracks are usually underwater but experts have taken the opportunity to map and monitor the dinosaur prints before the river fills back up again.

Paul Baker, who filmed footage of the find at the Dinosaur Valley State Park, said: "Sweep a little bit of the dust and dirt away, this is what you'll find: dinosaur tracks."

Park spokesperson Stephanie Salinas Garcia added: "Most tracks that have recently been uncovered and discovered at different parts of the river in the park belong to Acrocanthosaurus."

The footprints had not been visible for more than 20 years and Texas Parks and Wildlife say they "will continue to protect these 113 million-year-old tracks not only for present but future generations".
