Wildlife officials managed to assist the woodland creature, help get him “freed” from the bucket and send him on his merry way with help from the Utah Department of Natural Resources. It is believed that the deer was helping herself to the offerings put out by the public.

The Pleasant Grove Police Department said: "He has now been freed from the bucket and after a brief nap will be back on his way. Thanks to DNR for coming out and setting him free!"

In 2020, the rescuers issued a recommendation to not feed wild animals due to the threat of chronic wasting disease.

They said: "Because the disease is so contagious, it is essential that residents do not feed wildlife. This includes putting out corn, hay, dog food or birdseed that deer might easily access.”
