A pest control company is offering homeowners in the United States $2,000 to release 100 cockroaches into their property.

The Pest Informer is searching for 5-6 households to allow the firm to release 100 American cockroaches into their homes to try out new methods of getting rid of infestations.
The company, which is based in North Carolina, says the trial will last for 30 days and the pest control team will use traditional methods to remove the insects if the experimental attempts prove unsuccessful.
The firm said: "All tested cockroach treatments will be family and pet safe. You must not try any additional cockroach treatments during the duration of the study."
Applications to participate in the trial are open until July 31.
