A child whose parents spent too much time playing video games has reportedly been taken into care.
Social workers decided to become involved with the child's welfare after reasoning that the situation amounted to ''neglect'', according to The Sun newspaper, which claimed the child was taken away from home earlier this month.
Claude Knights, chief of charity Kidscape, said: ''The computer gaming must have been extreme use. I expect the parents were spending hours in front of a screen.
''If a child is being neglected or unsafe, then the authorities should step in, but it is a fine balance.''
