People are being urged to eat their Christmas trees.
Top chefs have urged people to snack on the festive firs rather than throwing them away for a vitamin C boost and other health and environmental benefits.
The chefs claim that "pretty much the whole thing" can be eaten as long as it is an organic tree.
Rene Redzepi, of the three-Michelin-starred restaurant Noma in Copenhagen, explained that his restaurant has been using pine needles in food for the past 20 years.
He said: "Think of it as rosemary - you can use it in just about anything."
Fir trees can be used to pickle eggs or vegetables as well as in drinks and infusions.
Julia Georgallis, the author of 'How to Eat Your Christmas Tree', said: "You can pretty much eat the whole thing.
"You can use the needles as you would use rosemary or bay leaves, for flavour."
