A family were left stunned after the pet cat they had been mourning turned up alive.
Rachel Fitzsimons explained how she and her family were devastated when their cat Frankie disappeared in Warrington last month and their worst fears were confirmed when they spotted a dead feline on the motorway.
Fitzsimons had organised a cremation for the beloved pet until they were left gobsmacked by an "amazing moment".
She told the Manchester Evening News: "My husband heard a meow outside and then I heard him shouting. We all ran out and there was Frankie!
"He was bedraggled and very thin, but we got him checked over at the vets and he's fine. We've no idea where he's been but just feel so lucky to have him back.
"It's true what they say about nine lives - but Frankie can't have many left at this rate!"
