Ashes, a then one-year-old indoor moggy who ran away from Denise Cilley’s house in Chesterville in 2015, has been located over 1,400 miles away in Longwood nearly seven years later.

Denise - who was confused to get a call from a Florida veterinarian after the cat was identified by microchip -told Patch: "I live in Maine. We don't have a cat in Florida.”

She has “no idea” as to how the pussycat made it all the way the Sunshine State

Denise said: "We have no idea. Maybe somebody found her in Maine, thought she was a stray, took her in and moved to Florida, and she got out and couldn't find her way home."
