An ancient forest has been revealed in Wales after windy conditions exposed the wood.
Remains of the 10,000-year-old woodland, thought to have been used by hunter-gatherers, have been found in Newgale, Pembrokeshire, west Wales, after windy conditions exposed the wood.
Phil Bennett, heritage manager for Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, said: ''The storms and high seas have pushed the pebble bank back and scoured the sand, exposing the remains of this woodland.
''We have been able to identify some recognisable timbers from the Mesolithic [about 11,600 years ago] period.''
What's more, the local council has started covering some of the ancient trees with pebbles from the beach in an attempt to stop them drying out.
