Library forced to shut after venomous spider discovery
A library was forced to close for two days after venomous spiders were found in the building.
The creatures were spotted at the University of Michigan and have been identified as Mediterranean recluse spiders.
Professor Ann Danielson-Francois, who works at the university, said that the arachnids are venomous but would be unlikely to bite a human in an open space.
She told WJBK-TV: "The Mediterranean recluse is one of these cosmopolitan species, it hitchhikes with people throughout the world. It's been found in 22 states.
"They don't have a huge amount of venom, but they have enough to start necrosis, which is the eating away of the flesh."
Francois adds that she now intends to use the spiders in her lessons.
She said: "I'm going to keep them for my spider biology class so I can teach students how I identify recluses properly."
Airport introduces food delivery robot
Philadelphia International Airport has unveiled Gita, a robot with a large capacity cargo bin to deliver meals in a contact-free manner via OrderatPHL.com. The airport posted a photo of Gita on Twitter, which drew comparisons to a droid from 'Star Wars'.
Megan O'Connell, marketing and customer service manager for PHL Food & Shops, said: "Now more than ever we are looking to be forward-thinking and innovative regarding our contactless ordering options."
She added that customers can choose how much human interaction they want when their food is delivered.
O'Connell said in a statement: "Gita allows our guests to customise their experience by choosing how much or how little human interaction they want when having their food delivered."
Fisherman discovers shark with 'human face'
Abdullah Nuren caught the young shark on a fishing trip in Indonesia and was left perplexed by its human-like facial features.
The shark was one of the three unborn creatures found in the stomach of a shark he had caught in his trawler net but the human-faced animal looked vastly different to his siblings.
Nuren said: "I initially found a mother shark caught in the trawler net.
"The next day I split the belly of the mother shark and found three pups in the stomach.
"Two were like the mother and this one that looked like it had a human face."
Nuren took the baby shark back to his home where it has captured the imagination of his local area but he has no plans to sell it.
He explained: "My home has been crowded with people who want to see the shark.
"Many people want to buy it, but I will preserve it instead. I think it will bring me good luck."
Man goes on Lent beer diet
Del Hall has revealed that his diet until Easter will only include beer, water, black coffee and herbal tea.
Hall, from Cincinnati in the US, told WXIX-TV: "I only have three to five beers a day. It's not like I'm drinking constantly. If you eat your standard diet, it gets boring. You don't eat the same thing every day. So, I am definitely not going to drink the same thing every day."
Hall has successfully completed Lent beer diets in the past two years and is aiming to raise money for bars and restaurants affected by the coronavirus pandemic with his latest effort.
He added: "The human body is an amazing thing. We're used to going through feast and famine as hunter-gatherers. The problem is we don't go through the famine anymore."
Bomb squad discover bag is full of new-born kittens
The unit at the Butler County Sheriff's Office in the US state of Ohio went to deal with a package left outside a church but discovered the litter of six kittens when they looked inside.
In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office said: "The Butler County Bomb Unit was called to a suspicious package at a church in New Miami.
"When Specialist Mike Grimes and Det. Detherage arrived, they didn't hear ticking - they heard purring!
"There was a momma cat and her six one-day-old babies in a bag.
"There was a note left stating "Sprinkles" went into labour yesterday.
"Momma and babies are warm, cosy and fed at the Animal Friends Shelter!"
Sprinkles and her kittens have settled in well at the sanctuary are now going to join their new foster family.

Rod Ponton appeared as a feline during a virtual court session after a mishap with a filter and the clip has since been viewed millions of times online. He admits that he is trying to "roll with it" after his sudden stardom. Ponton told the BBC: "I did not know that Zoom could turn me into a cat. I did not know that cat Zoom could turn me into an internet celebrity, but it all happened in just a matter of hours." The lawyer admits he was taken by surprise when he appeared as a cat as everything had seemed fine beforehand. Ponton explained: "When I got on Zoom everything seemed fine - my picture popped up, I was in the waiting room with the judge.
