A dog required emergency surgery after swallowing a kilo of stones from her owner's driveway.
Snickers the spaniel had to go under the knife after chomping 140 stone chippings from her owner's driveway, but it was thanks to her young owner, Ryan Jones, 12, that she was saved.
He noticed she had an unusual swollen stomach and asked his dad to take his pet pooch to the vet.
Warren Jones, Ryan's father, is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: ''I knew she wasn't pregnant but I could feel something in her belly.
