Squirrel vandalises house overnight
A squirrel trashed a house after becoming trapped inside overnight.
''My first thought was that someone was downstairs ... The squirrel was going wild but he managed to open a window and it was covered in dirt and it shot from the house like a bullet.''
Margaret Bousfield feared she was being burgled when she heard unfamiliar noises in her home but was shocked to find a small rodent had ransacked her living room causing £7,000 worth of damage.
The 64-year-old said: ''The first thing I heard was the burglar alarm go off as it woke me up.
''My first thought was that someone was downstairs ... The squirrel was going wild but he managed to open a window and it was covered in dirt and it shot from the house like a bullet.''
She added: ''The disruption was unbelievable. My first thought was 'I'll just clean this up'. I didn't realise how long the damage would take to sort.''
