''The flip side is that sweetness usually indicates that something is safe to eat and that's why kids traditionally love biscuits, desserts and sweet treats.''
Sweet Brussel sprouts have gone on sale.
Supermarket Waitrose has started selling a sweet version of the green vegetables - which are traditionally eaten at Christmas time but often disliked by children - in an attempt to get youngsters' eating more greens.
Farmers are said to have spent all year perfecting the sweeter taste and the food stuff is thought to trick kids' brains so they think of the vegetable as more of a treat.
Waitrose's Kid Friendly brand of sprouts have hit the shelves just in time for the festive period and have twice as much vitamin C per portion than an orange.
