A Chinese couple allegedly put their daughter up for adoption so they could afford an iPhone and some expensive sports shoes.
The pair are now facing trial after they purportedly accepted a bid of between 30,000 yuan and 50,000 yuan (£3,000 and £5,000) for their third daughter and then splashed out some of the cash on the new gadget, as well as some expensive new sports shoes.
The couple are thought to have told police they wanted her to have a better life than they could provide.
