Prisoner wins book accolade from jail

''in an institution''

A prisoner has won an accolade for crime writing for his book 'Cuts Through Bone' from behind bars.

Alaric Hunt was awarded a prize by the Private Eye Writers of America - a literary guild - after penning 'Cuts Through Bone' about a man who is wrongfully accused of his girlfriend's murder.

According to the New York Times newspaper, when Editor Toni Kirkpatrick phoned up Hunt to congratulate him on the gong, he was told by one of the inmate's relatives that he was ''in an institution''.

The Private Eye Writers judging panel was said to have been particularly impressed with the realism of book's characters.
