A British grandmother ended up in the Caribbean by mistake after an airline booked her on the wrong flight.
''I just froze because I did think I was going to Spain, I thought we'd be landing soon.''
Lamenda Kingdon was due to fly to Granada in Spain but only realised she was on the way to Grenada in the Caribbean, 4,000 miles away, instead of her intended European destination when she was speaking to a fellow passenger on her flight.
Lamenda was keen to visit Alhambra Palace in Spain as part of her ''bucket list'' after being diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2012, and she was shocked to find out she was on the wrong flight.
She said: ''I started to tell [another passenger] that this was part of my bucket list and I was so looking forward to seeing the Alhambra, and she replied, 'Not on this flight you won't.'
''I just froze because I did think I was going to Spain, I thought we'd be landing soon.''
However, travel rewards company Avios have admitted they made the error by booking Lamenda onto the wrong flight and she now plans to travel to New Zealand with the compensation points.
