Ostrich races traffic in South East England

An ostrich is currently on the loose in Tunbridge Wells, South East England.

An escaped Ostrich has been spotted running down country lanes and overtaking cars.

The fast-moving bird has been causing chaos on roads, racing alongside cars and weaving in and out of traffic.

The ostrich has been spotted multiple times by local residents.

An eyewitness told the Kent and Sussex Courier: 'It was definitely an ostrich. I know what an ostrich looks like, I just don't expect to see one in Speldhurst.'

Resident Colin Grant, told The Telegraph: 'It was dashing around pretty fast - when I first saw it, it overtook me and I was doing about 30mph, so it must have been going at 40mph plus.'

It is not yet known where the ostrich came from or where it is going.
