Lisa Kondvar was shocked when she opened the casket of her mum, Margaret Porkka, who died on holiday in St. Maarten, aged 82, and discovered a different person lying there.
It appears as though the wrong body was flown back to New Jersey, but the family has now hired a private detective to track down their mother's remains.
Lisa told the Providence Journal newspaper: ''I kept thinking, 'Am I dreaming?'. But it wasn't my mother.
''I saw my sister and husband in the funeral director's office and I said, 'This isn't mom ... you have to tell me what's going on.' ''
