A peculiar-looking shark has been discovered under the sea in Australia

Trapman Bermagui, a fisherman in Australia, left Facebook users bewildered after he uploaded a photo of the shark which appeared to have black and blue bulging eyes and sinister-looking teeth.

Trapman made the discovery off the coast of Australia before posting his find online last week.

The disturbing image of the eerie sea creature was captioned: "The face of a deep sea rough skin shark. All the way from 650m."

It has since been liked more than 1,500 times and gained over 280 comments.

Whilst one person suggested it was a goblin shark that was “man-made” by a “sculptor or mixing of DNA” another user described the strange sea predator as a “stuff of nightmares”.

A third person wrote: "I can't stand to look at it but every time I look away I see it in my head I can't believe a shark looks like that.”

The fisherman quickly debunked the mystery surrounding the peculiar shark, he told Newsweek: "Totally not a cookiecutter. It's a rough skin shark, also known as a species of endeavor dog shark.”
