A 26-year-old man spent £1,000 trying to win a competition only to find out it closed two years ago.
''I am hoping to do as many as I can in just 40 days - I plan on eating Nando's for every meal.''
Christopher Poole forked out on trips to 85 of the Nando's restaurants in the UK as part of his aim to visit every one of the eatery's 1,031 establishments around the world in order to win one of their prestigious 'black cards', which entitles the owner to free Nando's chicken for life.
Nando's has now vowed to honour the prize should Christopher eat at every one of its stores in the world, and he now plans to go to the chicken chain's 300 restaurants in Australia.
He said: ''I am hoping to do as many as I can in just 40 days - I plan on eating Nando's for every meal.''
Nando's explained: ''We don't run the challenge any more.
''However, if Christopher Poole completes his attempt, we will happily honour our original promise and give him free Nando's for life.''
