Man, 50, asked for ID to buy alcohol

A 50-year-old man was left stunned when he was asked to prove he is over 18 while attempting to buy alcohol.

''I know I don't look my age but there's no way I'm 24.''

Charles Brown, a father-of-three, went to his local Morrisons supermarket in Huddersfield, west Yorkshire, to purchase a bottle of rum, but he was stopped in his tracks and asked to provide some identification if he wanted to complete his transaction.

The forklift driver didn't have any proof of age on him but fortunately he managed to convince the checkout assistant and the store manager that he was over 18.

He told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner newspaper: ''I take it as a compliment but it's getting a bit frustrating. I think they need to retrain their staff.
