Football fans were left furious after their local library was lit up in the colours of their big rivals.
Birmingham City supporters hit out at their local council after the new Library of Birmingham was lit up in claret and blue - the colours worn by Premier League heavyweights Aston Villa.
Several Birmingham fans vented their feelings on social networking sites and websites of local newspapers and one, Hannah Bevington, blasted the move as ''disgusting and disgraceful''.
Villa Chief Executive Paul Faulkner, who is also a Trustee of the Library of Birmingham Trust, told the club's official website: ''We're delighted that the Library of Birmingham approached us about his collaboration and we were only too happy to agree.
''The Library of Birmingham really is a striking focal point in a burgeoning city landscape and we're thrilled it will be even more eye-catching now as it adopts our famous club colours over the next few weeks.''
