Darts player defends Jesus

A top darts player has pleaded with the game's authorities not to ban a fan just because he looks like Jesus.

Phil 'The Power' Taylor insists Nathan Grindal - who was thrown out of last year's Players Championship finals in Minehead, south west England, after the crowd began chanting at him, which officials worried would distract the players - should be able to watch him defend his world title over the festive period.

''I see no reason why we should not let a bloke who looks like Jesus enjoy the spectacle - as long as he observes the rules like everybody else.''

The darts star is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: ''Every year we get people dressed as Superman, Spiderman, Thunderbirds and nuns coming to the world championship, and the punters in fancy dress add to the fantastic atmosphere of the occasion.

''I see no reason why we should not let a bloke who looks like Jesus enjoy the spectacle - as long as he observes the rules like everybody else.''

The Professional Darts Corporation have confirmed Nathan hasn't been banned from the upcoming event at Alexandra Palace, north London.
