A faulty air bed exploded causing a flat's roof to blow off.
Kenny McAdam was inflating his sleeping aid when it suddenly burst sending tiles flying off the roof and glass and debris scattered across the room and out into the street below.
The 53-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, to be treated for shock and police later confirmed he has not suffered any injuries.
Wendy Morrison, 41, who lives below Kenny, was in her flat at the time of the explosion and feared she was going to die.
She is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: ''I thought I was going to die. Everything shook and went flying everywhere.
''There's cracks in the ceiling. I didn't know what was going on so I locked my dogs and cats in the kitchen and just ran into the street.
''I was absolutely shaking.
''There was a lot of broken glass and tiles off the roof. I wasn't allowed back into the house, the police came along and cordoned everything off.
''Kenny was taken away by ambulance. He didn't look too well but I think it was just shock. They took him out in a chair.''
A Police Scotland spokesman explained: ''The householder at the property in Main Street was inflating an air bed.
''The air bed had a fault and the built-in compressor has burst and exploded.
''There seems to have been a significant release of compressed air which has caused some slates to be removed off the roof.
''The fire service are in attendance to make the area safe.''
