Wayne Klinkel went to incredible lengths to get his money back by waiting for the cash to pass through his pet pooch Sundance, washing the notes and then putting them back together - and his effort paid off as the US government has agreed to reimburse him.
The canine chomped through the money when Wayne and his wife left their four-legged friend in their car while they were eating at a restaurant - but they forget the notes were in there as well.
He told the Helena Independent Record newspaper: ''I thought, 'You dumb sob.' I couldn't believe he did that.''
