''United Biscuits' decision to revert back to the classic recipe is driven by the desire to deliver the best possible taste experience for consumers.''
A biscuit company has been forced to revert back to a classic recipe after customers launched a protest campaign.
Lovers of McVitie's classic Digestives complained the treated had lost its ''dunkability'' in tea and coffee after the recipe was changed in two stages in 2009 and 2010 when palm oil was removed and replaced with sunflower oil, reducing the amount of saturated fat in the snack.
But following customer complaints, the company has gone back to its old ways.
It said in a statement: ''United Biscuits' decision to revert back to the classic recipe is driven by the desire to deliver the best possible taste experience for consumers.''
