A bionic penis could help men who are underperforming in bed.
The willy patch is made from polyvinyl alcohol - which is typically used in 3D printing - and could provide a boost for males aged from 40 to 70, half of whom experience erectile dysfunction.
The bionic organ mimics a sheath of tissue called the tunica albuginea, which is key to maintaining erections and can be injured during sex or accidents.
Experts in China found that the synthetic tissue used in their artificial tunica albuginea was able to perk up pigs.
Dr. Xuetao Shi, a researcher at Guangzhou's University of Technology, said: "We were surprised by the results, where the penis regained normal erection immediately.
"The need is huge."
Dr. Shi added that his team would consider the construction of an artificial penis for patients who had surrounding tissue affected by illness or accidents.
