A big cat is seemingly on the loose in North Wales.
Residents have spotted what they believe it to be a puma or leopard prowling the sleepy town of Chirk.
According to Group Puma Watch, three people have reported sightings of a mysterious feline wandering around the town within six months.
A woman called Klara, who’s part of the group, claims she spotted a “black animal” near Lady Margaret's Caravan Park at 8.45pm on March 28.
She said: "I saw a very large animal on top of a low structure. I can't give anymore detail because it was completely backlit by the industrial area behind, but the animal was way bigger than a dog.
"I turned to the driver and said, 'OMG I’ve just seen a bear or a wild cat, like a massive f*** off cat!'
"I kept trying to look again but the hedges were too high. She didn’t believe me so searched wild cats in Chirk area and found Puma Watch."
Although sightings have not been verified, many big cats were kept as pets in the UK before the Dangerous Wild Animals Act was introduced in 1976 outlawing domestic housing of these types of animals.
Big cat sightings in the UK happen every year and it has been theorised that there is a population of hybrid big cats in the wild with the population being created by pet owners releasing their animals into the wild in the wake of the government legislation.
