Basketball players are in the midst of an attempt to play the longest game of the sport.
Teams from New York and Canada, which consist of high school and college students, began their attempt last Friday (06.08.21).
Nick Revelas has organised the event and explained how he and some friends began playing an annual basketball game to raise money for mental health causes after they lost a close friend to suicide.
Revelas shared how the game has grown with every passing year.
He told Spectrum News: "Six years ago, I started running a neighborhood basketball game in my driveway known as the Berryman Drive Fiesta Bowl.
"It was kind of a fun way for our neighbors to get together in the driveway.
"And then, over the years, it's kind of become this massive fundraiser, not just to raise money for mental health, but also awareness."
The time to beat is 120 hours, one minute and seven seconds and the players are expected to reach the benchmark at some point on Wednesday (11.08.21).
Revelas confirmed that a Guinness adjudicator will be present to verify the record.
