Moving to Australia can extend your life.
A study has found that people Down Under outlive those in other wealthy English-speaking countries including the UK, the US and Canada.
Life expectancy is two years longer than in Britain and almost five years longer than in the US, which trails behind the other nations in the study in a comparison of trends dating back to 1990.
Boffins at Pennsylvania State University found that most of the Australian gains in life expectancy came after the age of 45 as a result of better diagnosis and treatment for illnesses such as heart disease and cancer.
Study authors Dr. Rachel Wilkie and Dr. Jessica Ho said: "Australia offers a potential model for lower-performing anglophone countries, such as the USA and UK, to follow to reduce both premature mortality and inequalities in life expectancy."
