Asteroids that crashed into Earth could have been made by aliens.
Space rocks have left scientists baffled as they contain compounds that have only been "invented" on Earth just years before.
In the 1960s, for example, meteorites contained heidite and brezinaite even though they were thought to have been billions of years old.
BP Embaid, from the Central University of Venezuela, has suggested that the minerals may have been created by an extraterrestrial species as they are unlikely to occur naturally.
The expert said: "It is important to be open-minded and even provocative to consider the following question: are these meteoritic minerals samples of extraterrestrial technosignatures?
"The genesis of these meteoritic minerals could require (a) controlled and sophisticated process not easily found in nature."
