A police candidate rang 999 to find out how his job application was going.
North Wales Police have revealed that the nuisance call was one of many "ridiculous" inquiries that the force's control room have had to put up with.
Call handlers also had to deal with a woman to ask for help moving her sofa when it got stuck in her hallway as she tried to move it from her lounge.
Another example included a woman who was stood outside a police station in Rhyl calling 999 as she was looking for a lift home after failing to book a taxi.
Control room manager Paul Shea said: "Unfortunately, we still get too many silly calls like the one from the lady who got the couch stuck in the hall.
"They're just not policing matters and it takes valuable resources from people who are in real trouble."
