Alien life could be hiding on Mercury.
Scientists have discovered that the planet's north pole could have the appropriate conditions to support some "extreme forms of life".
A study from the Planetary Research Institute has concluded that life could exist within glaciers of salt that are hidden beneath the surface of the smallest planet in the Solar System - which is otherwise uninhabitable.
The researchers claim that there are comparable areas on Earth where life is present despite the harsh environment.
Dr. Alexis Rodriguez, who led the study, said: "This groundbreaking discovery of Mercurian glaciers extends our comprehension of the environmental parameters that could sustain life, adding a vital dimension to our exploration of astrobiology also relevant to the potential habitability of Mercury-like exoplanets."
