Earth was hit by an "alien meteorite" in 2014.
It was believed that the planet was first hit by a space rock in 2017 but new information from Harvard University and US Space Command has revealed that it actually happened three years earlier.
Scientists are convinced that the rock, which was removed from the Pacific Ocean, could suggest this is a common occurrence in our solar system.
Space Command has issued a memo noting that the velocity and trajectory of the rock indicates that it had travelled to Earth from another star system.
The research was led by Harvard astronomers Dr. Amir Siraj and Dr. Abraham Loeb and the former wants to organise an expedition to see if fragments of the 2014 meteorite can be recovered.
He said: "It would be a big undertaking but we're going to look at it in extreme depth because the possibility of getting the first piece of interstellar material is exciting enough to check this very thoroughly."
