The existence of aliens could be proved in less than a month.
Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb is awaiting the results of tests on fragments of a meteor that crashed to Earth in 2014 which he is convinced may have been an extraterrestrial spacecraft.
The alien boffin's team used a magnetic sled to recover 750 marble-sized molten droplets when the object exploded into a fireball above the Pacific Ocean.
Loeb said that the results of the analysis could "definitely" reveal humanity's "first contact" with alien life.
He explained: "We are now analysing those materials.
"We are in the process of finding out - within a month or so - what this meteor was made of and whether it is perhaps technological in origin or not.
"If it's something like the Voyager spacecraft colliding with the planet that would appear as a meteor. We will find out.
"I am expecting further news within a month. That's the hope."
