Looking back at the year gone by, it’s been a busy one for the celebrities. They’ve certainly kept us entertained throughout 2011. Lindsay Lohan kicked it all off at the start of the year, by getting charged with stealing a necklace from a jewellery store in January. It then became another year of being in and out of court and jail for her. 2011 was certainly not the year she decided to start behaving herself. She was sentenced to 120 days in jail, and hundreds of hours of community service. It’s because it was also an offence in violation of her probation stemming from a 2007 charge. Complicated! She spent some time under house arrest due to jail overcrowding, and couldn’t even do that properly. She got ordered back to court after a booze binge during that time. She tested positive for alcohol, and this came just as a magazine interview was published in which she claimed her home was free of alcohol. Lindsay was carrying out her term at home at Venice Beach - before she started her home jail sentence, she holidayed with friends in Miami and fitted in a magazine shoot whilst there, before returning to LA to do her time. Luckily the judge decided it was OK about the whole alcohol testing incident and some good news was that it was confirmed Lindsay would star in a new gangster flick Gotti: Three Generations. She will star alongside John Travolta and Al Pacino in the film based on the life and crimes of notorious mafia boss John Gotti. A film about crime... sounds perfect for Lindsay Lohan! It will be released next year. But not long after this news, later in the year, Lindsay was back in court... surprise, surprise! It was basically so the judge could have a go at her for not sticking to the conditions of her probation. She wore a white dress to show innocence but nobody really believed it, and we don’t know who on earth had done her make up – a clown? Easy on the blusher Lindsay! The judge said that Lindsay had failed to show up at the Women's Centre where she was doing her community service on at least nine different occasions, and she added that she doubted Lindsay was attending counselling once a week, as the court had ordered her to do. Lindsay got another jail sentenced thrown at her but was out in a matter of hours because of overcrowding. She then got sent to work with dead bodies in a morgue. She has finished off the year making a bit of money by doing a nude photoshoot for Playboy magazine – well, we say a bit of money - $1 million! In April a new celebrity was born and her name is Pippa Middleton. Well, we mean born as in born into the world of celebrity, not actually born. She shot to fame by having a brilliant bum as she was bridesmaid for her older sister Kate at the Royal Wedding. There was news that one UK plastic surgeon company saw a whopping 500 per cent increase in its bottom-enhancing procedures, and Pippa was the most requested bottom to have! She took over the top of the surgery wish-list from the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Kylie Minogue... everybody wants Pippa’s bottom now! And if you don’t fancy parting with a fortune and going under the knife, how do you get Pippa’s bottom? Well, she also revealed her secret. The secret is... are you ready for it... pilates! Quick, let’s enrole on a class! Her love life has been up and down. She spilt up with her long term boyfriend Alex later on in the year and then even got spotted having dinner with another ex who she dated for 3 years before Alex. Pippa and JJ met at university in Edinburgh, and dated after that. She may be getting back with him... watch this space hey. Pippa also got a book deal in 2011. It is reported that she will make £400,000 from the book, and it will not be on a very sensible subject, instead it will be on how to throw the perfect party. Just the book we all need. Not. Pippa is actually a party planner, and apparently threw around some ideas for a book, which set off bidding wars between publishers such as HarperCollins and Random House, before Penguin secured the rights. No doubt we’ll see it on shelves next year. May brought us the whole Cheryl Cole saga... she got sacked from American X factor after just a couple of days work. After all the fuss, she was sacked, just like that – apparently because the Americans didn't understand her accent. Simon Cowell said that the reason why Cole left was because he offered her the job in the UK version back as that he felt that she would be more comfortable there. Cheryl and Simon fell out big time over this. It was later announced that she turned down the offer of having her old job back, and instead Tulisa from N Dubz replaced her on the UK X Factor. They made up a little bit as the year went on, but certainly weren’t the bossom buddies they once were. Simon at one point claimed he would work with her again but said: “But we've got to start talking first. I don't think we've fallen out. I've had one text. It's between us what was said. She was p***** off, but she wished me well." All this job sacking seemed to make Cheryl hide away from the public eye. Until her birthday when our hearts sank as she was spotted holding hands with her ex husband Ashley Cole again. Luckily, she saw the light and we since hear she has gotten rid of him for good, but phew, that was close. Cheryl also been linked with Taio Cruz and her new record producer Patrizio Pigliapoco – what a name! Also in May, there were revelations about Arnold Swarzenegger’s life that resembled that of a soap opera. Arnie and his wife split under strange circumstances after 25 years of marriage – nobody could understand why – and then he admitted to fathering a child with a member of his household staff – so it all became clear as to why his wife Maria had kicked him out. The Terminator star got a female employee pregnant around 10 years ago. He confessed this news in a statement. He issued a profuse apology to his family and estranged spouse. He said that he told his wife about all of this after leaving the governor's office. Arnie went on to say that he understands and deserves the feelings of anger and disappointment among his friends and family. He said there are no excuses and that he takes full responsibility for the hurt he has caused. He revealed that he has apologised to Maria, his children and his family. The member of staff, whose identity has not been revealed, had worked for the family for 20 years before retiring in January, insisting she had "left on good terms with them". The mystery woman had claimed her then-husband was the child's father until Arnie came clean. Imagine suddenly finding out The Terminator was your dad! In July, the Beckhams added to their family – she finally arrived... little miss baby Beckham... well, Harper Seven Beckham to be precise! The baby girl, who weighed in at 7lbs 10oz, was born at a medical centre in LA. An official spokesperson for the family broke the news on twitter, and then David posted a message on his official Facebook Page. It said: "I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham. She weighed a healthy 7lbs 10oz and arrived at 7.55 this morning, here in LA. Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister." The Beckhams already had their 3 boys – Brooklyn at 12, Romeo at 8, and Cruz at 6. We guess that the girl was never going to be called something normal given the names of her brothers, but we are just happy that the rumours of the baby being called Santa weren’t true! The Beckhams have said that the name Harper came from Victoria’s favourite book – To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee, and about the middle name ‘Seven’, David said: “The main reason behind Seven was it symbolises spiritual perfection - the seven wonders of the world, the seven colours of the rainbow – and in many cultures it is a lucky number.” As far as David and Victoria go for the rest of the year, there was been much speculation that David will retire from football at some point soon, and Victoria’s fashion career has really been taking off. Lots of celebrities have been wearing her dresses and she even won Designer brand of the year at the British Fashion awards. She picked up the award and cried the way through her speech.
