Pop legend Lionel Richie’s been saying how much he can’t wait to be on tour again, and that there’s one particular place he’s looking forward to visiting. Talking about Liverpool in the UK, the star said “The musical heritage you guys have just blows me away. I am the biggest Beatles fan. I loved that Mersey beat sound. “The first time I came to Liverpool, I went everywhere. I wanted to know where The Beatles grew up, where they ate, where they went to school.” Maybe he should do a duet with Paul McCartney?! “I remember wandering round at night and asking this guy ‘where’s that pub again where they drank?’ and he took me to this little bar. I had one of the best nights of my life. Oh to have been a fly on the wall that night! Lionel must be pretty happy at the moment as his daughter Nicole has been telling interviewers that her wild child days are far behind her, and although she doesn’t regret them, she’s happy now just to be a wife and mum. So that means granddad Lionel can concentrate on his career and yesterday was seen stopping to sign autographs for waiting fans. It’s just a shame that he couldn’t remember the release date of his own album. Perhaps showing his age, Lionel told paps it was due for release on the 26th before one of his people corrected him, “no Lionel, it’s 12th” duh! Lionel is one of the biggest stars of the music world with album sales of more than 100 million, 22 Top 10s, five Grammys, an Academy Award for Best Original Song, and a Golden Globe - phew The new album is an album of duets (non with Paul McCartney though!) and features artist including Shania Twain, Kenny Chesney, Kenny Rogers and Willie Nelson. The album is called TUSKEGEE – which is the name of the town in Alabama where he grew up. It’s out SOMETIME in March
