Katie Holmes and her six-year-old daughter, Suri, were staying in their New York apartment when the storm hit America's east coast on Monday and they initially decided to stay there. However, the building was plunged into darkness and the power and water were cut so the pair have had to move into to a luxury hotel until the conditions return to normal. According to the New York Post newspaper, Katie was keen to stay in New York as she is rehearsing for Broadway play 'Dead Accounts', which has been forced to delay its previews until next week because of superstorm Sandy. It's been an eventful few days for Katie as earlier this week she had an embarrassing encounter with a diner wearing a "Free Katie" T-shirt in a restaurant. The 33-year-old beauty and Suri sat down to enjoy a quiet dinner at Mr. Chow Tribeca last Saturday next to a group of Halloween revellers, who were wearing the comedy T-shirt and another shirt which read "Save Suri". The slogan-emblazoned clothes were references to the campaign that was started when Katie was still married to Scientologist Tom Cruise - who she divorced in July - urging her to leave the actor. Another member of the party was dressed as a young Tom from 'Top Gun', but when they spotted who was on the next table they covered up their T-shirts.
