We’re discovering more and more this week that Katie Holmes really does mean business. She announced the end of her 5 year marriage to Tom Cruise at the end of last week and yesterday she then filed an emergent application which means that everything from their divorce proceedings will be made public. – We can’t wait for the revelations! Katie has also stated that she wants sole custody of their 6 year old daughter Suri. It is believed that Tom was quite shocked at her filing for divorce and it is thought that he invited Katie to Iceland to spend his 50th birthday with him on Tuesday in an attempt to save their relationship but she refused. Tom is in Iceland shooting his latest movie and has his 2 adopted children with him – they are from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman. Katie has looked at the relationship Tom has with those children – and the lack of relationship Nicole Kidman has and doesn’t want to end up like that. A source said: "Bella and Connor lived with their father and Katie during the marriage full-time. They aren't that close to Nicole, and Katie is determined that she won't be cut out of Suri's life. Bella and Connor are devoted to their father and Scientology, and Katie saw this firsthand, and this is one of the reasons she filed for sole custody.” The source also explained about how Katie is determined and is not willing to back down. They said: “Katie will not be relegated to a secondary role in her daughter's life, period, and she is prepared to fight Tom in court. Katie isn't going to back down, and she will do whatever it takes to ensure that she raises Suri herself” Katie has been spotted out and about this week and with a big smile on her face – she was in New York for her father’s birthday and eating ice cream.
