The 70-year-old actress - who played barmaid Bev Unwin from 2003 to 2006 and again in 2015 - revealed she had fatty tissue removed from under her eyes because she felt she "looked like an old drunk" and while it made her happy at the time, she wouldn't do it again.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I had my eye bags done after I left 'Corrie'. I took one look at myself and thought I looked like an old drunk.

"I just didn't want to look unwell and I've regretted it ever since. Now I'm playing Miss Marple and the more bags the merrier, but at the time I was going through that 50-year-old phase where you think, 'I don't want to be this old.'

"I've always felt if it makes you happy, have plastic surgery. And at that moment it did make me happy. But I wouldn't have more plastic surgery."

Susie also commented on fellow 'Corrie' alumni Nigel Havers, and admitted she wasn't best pleased with a story he shared in his autobiography.

Writing in 2006's 'Playing With Fire', the soap star - who played Lewis Archer on the cobbles on and off from 2009 until the character's death a decade later - revealed Susie took his virginity on a beach in Kent.

However, the actress - who still hasn't read the book - insisted she wasn't approached about the tale being detailed in the memoir.

She added: "Hmmm, he's written about it in his book which is the only reason it came to light.

"And he wrote about it without asking which I think is a bit naughty. But it was sweet.

"We were kids - 15 or something. We were at school. He didn't write anything unpleasant. I didn't read it, but my girlfriend did and said it was fine."
