Roger Lloyd-Pack
A tribute is to air on GOLD in honour of the life of Roger Lloyd-Pack.
The TV channel is to pay its respects to the late 'Only Fools and Horses' actor, who made his name playing simple roadsweeper Trigger in the BBC sitcom, after he died of pancreatic cancer aged 69 on Wednesday (15.01.14), by airing several of the "best Trigger episodes" over the weekend of January 25 and 26.
The station posted a message on its official Twitter account this morning (17.01.14), which read: "As a tribute to the legendary Roger Lloyd-Pack, Gold will air all the best Trigger episodes from #OFAH on the 25th-26th January (sic)"
Several stars have paid tribute to the late actor including his 'Only Fools and Horses' co-stars Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst, who played brothers Derrick 'Del Boy' Trotter and Rodney Trotter respectively.
David said in a statement: "I was very saddened to hear of Roger's passing. He was a very quiet, kind and unassuming actor who was a pleasure to work with.
"Although he played the simple soul of Trigger in 'Only Fools And Horses', he was a very intelligent man and a very fine actor capable of many roles. I shall remember him with fondness and for all the good times we had together."
Nicholas said: "I'm so saddened to hear about Roger. He was the most accomplished actor and loved by millions. I will miss him greatly."
John Challis, who played Boycie in 'Only Fools and Horses', admitted he felt "distressed" upon finding out about Roger's death.
He said: "I spoke to Roger two days ago. It is very sad and very distressing.
"My thoughts are with his family. He was a remarkable man and he'll be missed. Roger is irreplaceable. It's a very sorry day."
