The BBC are to launch an 'Escape To The Country' spin-off championing city life.
While the popular daytime show has proven a favourite with viewers after almost 17 years on the small screen, the format is to be being given a big town twist in a new programme, 'Escape To the New Town', which will see presenters take country dwelling folk to towns and cities to find their ideal new home.
A source told The Sun's Bizarre TV column: "Beeb producers know that it's a format that works, so the new spin-off show is for those seeking a change and a faster-paced life.
"Many people have made the move to the countryside hoping for a slice of rural peace and tranquillity, but it's not always all it's cracked up to be
"The series will also help those who've lived in the sticks all their lives and are hankering after making a home in the heart of a busy, exciting metropolis. There are also some potential buyers who love town life so much they want to try another."
It's said the programme is already in pre-production, and it should be on air later this year.
'Escape To The Country' - which has been presented by Margherita Taylor since 2017 - first aired in October 2002, and follows potential buyers searching for their dream property in rural areas of the UK.
They are shown around three homes - including a mystery property - before being asked to guess the market price.
News of the spin-off show comes after the programme's 19th series started in September last year on BBC One.
