The 26-year-old Olympic champion - who won the gold medal in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 - has been announced as the 13th celebrity to take part in the ballroom and Latin show next month and he's looking forward to "challenging" himself away out of water.

Adam - who made history by becoming the first British swimmer to defend an Olympic title - said: “I think this will come as a surprise to a lot of people, but I’m so excited to finally share the news that I’ll be joining 'Strictly' this year. I’m really looking forward to doing something totally different and challenging myself away from the pool. I’m hoping my competitive nature is going to compensate for my dancing abilities!"

As well as his three gold and two silver Olympic medals, he is an eight-time World Champion, a sixteen-time European Champion and a three-time Commonwealth Champion, so he'll no doubt be hoping to add the famous glitterball trophy to his stash of accolades.

The athlete - who was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2017 for his services to swimming - joins Greg Wise, Tilly Ramsay, Katie McGlynn, Dan Walker, Sara Davies, Tom Fletcher, Robert Webb, AJ Odudu, Rhys Stephenson, and John Whaite in this year's show.
