The heir to the throne attended a glittering dinner for the British Asian Trust at the Natural History Museum in London with his wife Duchess Camilla and during a speech to announce a new£3million fund dedicated to work in Pakistan, he used the Hindi term of endearment, which means beloved.

Prince Charles - who is a founder and president of the Trust - added: "The fund will support the exponential growth of my Trust's work in Pakistan on livelihoods and mental health, ensuring that we reach even more of Pakistan's most vulnerable people in the years ahead.

"I am particularly proud that my Trust does not shy away from them and contributes, in its own way, to resolving some of the most difficult issues of our time."

Simon Cowell also attended and praised the trust, which works with the South Asian community,

He told MailOnline: "I got involved through a fantastic guy who works for me. Came to the event last year, thoroughly enjoyed it and have since got to learn more about the cause and the region. The work they are doing to help the communities out there is remarkable."
