There are varying opinions on whether your partner should be considered your 'everything' in life.

Should Your Relationship Be Your Number One Priority?

Should Your Relationship Be Your Number One Priority?

Miley Cyrus has said in the latest edition of Cosmopolitan that her fiancé Liam Hemsworth is her number one priority in life.

On the flip side to this, there are people who will put their career before anything, or their lifelong friendships before romantic relationships.

But which of these is right? Is there even a right answer or could it simply be a case of finding the right balance?

Of course, relationships are important, they are in many respects what make life worth living.

Whether these be romantic relationships or friendly relationships, they're something that are crucial for us to get through life.

The hard bit comes when trying to decide what to prioritise. Some people will tell you that their partner is their everything and that they would give anything up for them, including friendships and jobs.

But is this a wise idea? Giving up everything in your life for someone that isn't necessarily a certainty can be dangerous.

You never know what the future holds and although you may feel that nothing else in the world matters other than your relationship with them, nothing is to say that those feelings won't change and where are you left then?

On the other side of the argument, being too focused on your career and letting a loved one go because of it could be the biggest mistake you'll ever make.

Those on the middle ground will tell you that love conquers all, and that you really can have it all.

There is truth in this, if something is meant to work out then it's usually the way that things have a habit of falling into place.

That's not to say that it will be easy, nothing truly worth having ever comes easily, but if your relationship is strong enough, you'll find it will whether any storm thrown at it.

And what about your friends? Well there is the saying 'sisters before misters' but the reality is that both friends and partners are equally important for different reasons so keep them both around!
