British stuntwoman, Olivia Jackson, has been put into a medically induced coma after a motorbike accident on set.
The South African-born stuntwoman was not wearing any protective gear when she collided with a metal camera arm during a high-speed motorbike chase. Jackson, 32, suffered severe head injuries and a punctured lung, and has reportedly been placed in an induced coma to aid her recovery.
Ms Jackson, from Buckinghamshire, was filming a stunt for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in Johannesburg, South Africa at the time of the crash. A source from the film set told The Sun that the accident was out of Jackson's control, as the metal camera arm "malfunctioned and didn't lift up". The crash is being investigated.
David Grant, Jackson's husband who is also a stunt performer, thanked well-wishers for their support and wrote on Facebook that Olivia is "making steady progress".
"She's my inspiration and my world and one tough little mother******. She's fighting hard and the team of people working on Olive have been amazing," he wrote.
Jackson has performed stunts in a number of high-profile films, including Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Mortdecai.
